3–9 monthsSelf-building in Bristol or the South West is a marathon, not a sprint. We act as your principal contractor, managing planning, design, structure, services, finish and warranty under a single accountable contract.
Most self-builds in the South West go wrong for the same reason: too many separately-contracted parties. The architect, the engineer, the groundworker, the timber-frame supplier, the M&E contractor, each holding part of the risk and none of them holding all of it.
MB acts as principal contractor under JCT or NEC contracts, taking design responsibility from RIBA Stage 4 onwards through to building control sign-off, CIL discharge and warranty issue. You get one team, one programme, one final price.

3–9 monthsRIBA Stages 4 and 5, structural calcs, MEP coordination, building control submission, technical specifications.
2–4 monthsSite clearance, foundations, drainage, slab, services to plot. The dirty, critical phase. 6–10 weeks.
Frame up, roof on, windows in, watertight. Whether masonry, timber frame or SIPs. 10–16 weeks.
First fix, plastering, second fix, kitchen, bathrooms, decoration. 16–24 weeks.
Building control sign-off, energy assessment, snag, professional clean, warranty issue, defects period.
